Dubai Expo 2020, the biggest international event of the year, has been postponed to 20201 due to the pandemic after a majority of Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Member States voted in favour of postponing the next World Expo by one year. Dubai Expo 2020 was originally planned for a six-month run starting October 20. The event will now run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, a delay that allows all participants to safely navigate the impact of COVID-19, and allows the World Expo to focus on new thinking to identify solutions to some of the greatest challenges of our time.
Expo 2020 Dubai is to be the first World Expo hosted in the Middle East or Africa. There was to be more than 200 participants including nations, multilateral organisations, businesses and educational institutions, according to the organizers. Some 190 nations had confirmed their participation.
